The Best Credit Card in India for 2012

Since I talked about the best credit card in India for the year 2011, which in fact was the Manhattan Platinum Credit Card and it still can prove to be the best card but there is just another credit card which is as useful as Manhattan and it is the Indian Oil Citibank Platinum Credit Card.  I will explain below why it can also rank as the best credit available for the Indians at the moment.  The first and foremost feature that I like about this card is that with its turbo points (rewards points) you can buy fuel directly from any of the Indian Oil Petrol Pumps.

Features

  • There is no joining or annual fee for this card

  • Get Free Fuel with your turbo points

  • No hidden charges to redeem points

Why It is the Best?

To answer the question on why the Indian Oil Citibank Platinum Credit Card is the best credit card in India, I am going to explain the turbo points or the rewards points that you can earn with it.

  • Earn 4 Turbo Points for every Rs. 150 spent on Indian Oil Petrol outlets

  • Get 2 turbo points for every Rs. 150 spent on grocery stores

  • Get 1 turbo point for every Rs. 150 spent anywhere else

  • Every 1 Turbo Point Equals Rs. 1 worth of Petrol/Diesel

Redeem Turbo Points

Now comes the best part, the reward points that you earn from this card can be used to redeem directly from any of the Indian Oil Pumps just presenting your Citibank Credit Card and the attendant will swipe it and use the rewards points for your purchase.  The minimum turbo points to redeem is just 200.  So with every 200 points that you earn you will get fuel worth Rs. 200!

Comparing Other Cards

As against any other credit cards in India which have started deducting service charges of around Rs. 100, even for redeeming our points for gifts this one card can be used without such hassles and redeem it for free fuel on all your spends.  There is absolutely no hidden charges or fees applicable for redeeming your points.

Your Savings on Fuel

Consider if you use your card for around Rs. 30,000 for every month to two, then you will get Rs. 200 worth free petrol for your purchases rather than getting an useless free gifts against your rewards points redemptions.  Hence I consider this card as the best credit card in India at least for this year 2012.  Also according to Citibank, you can get upto 30 litres of free fuel every year with this Indian Oil Collaborated credit card depending upon your usage.

Hence if you have been trying to acquire yourselves a credit card, go for this Citibank Card to save on your fuel charges just by using your credit card for shopping.  This is indeed the best card in India at least for this year.

  1. i would like to bring to ur notice that citibank charges an anunnal fee of rs. 1000 if the shopping value of the card is below 30000 per year. 30000 is not a big value but this is a sort of hidden fees. I own such a card and so know it.
